At Montefiore, our commitment to providing our patients with the most advanced radiologic care is exemplified by our team of radiology specialists. All of our radiologists are certified by the American Board of Radiology, and most have additional training in one or more of the subspecialities of radiology, including pediatric radiology, vascular/interventional, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal radiology, abdominal radiology, cardiovascular radiology, breast imaging and ultrasound.
For example, the radiologists who interpret mammography at Montefiore are dedicated, which means that they spend most of their time reading mammograms. Others specialize in interpreting scans of the brain and central nervous system, while others focus on the heart or abdominal organs. Radiologists who specialize in a given area within radiology become more proficient in interpreting particular types of scans. Better proficiency means a higher level of diagnostic accuracy.
Highly trained staff
Montefiore is a teaching facility. We are proud of our role as a leader in educating radiologists for the future. Our program currently includes 36 residents, 9 in each of 4 levels. In addition, our fellowship program, which provides advanced study in subspecialty areas after the residency, allows radiologists to continue their training in one of these areas: neuroradiology, vascular and interventional radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, body imaging, abdominal radiology, and chest radiology.

Teaching ensures that Montefiore physicians are practicing the most current techniques in radiology. Falling behind the leading edge isn't an option at Montefiore.
Nationally recognized standard of care
Ultrasound, MRI, CT and mammography services at Montefiore are all fully accredited by the American College of Radiology. This accreditation assures patients that our imaging equipment, technologists and radiologists meet a nationally recognized standard of care.
