David K. Appel, MD, Director of the Montefiore School Health ProgramAssociate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Department of Pediatrics (Social Pediatrics), Albert Einstein College of Medicine Associate Professor of Clinical Family & Social Medicine, Department of Family and Social Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine As Director of the Montefiore School Health Program for 14 years, Dr. Appel has spearheaded its growth into the largest program of its kind in the country, with 19 elementary, middle and high schools throughout the Bronx. He has also been a pediatrician at Montefiore since 1993, and before that, was a pediatrician at Yale/New Haven Hospital and Fairhaven Community Health Center in Connecticut. Appel is a graduate of the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He was a Kellogg Foundation Urban Health Fellow and completed his residency and internship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Areas of Expertise
