The Montefiore Hudson Valley CEAD is led by experienced physicians who are experts in aging.
Program Director/Principal Investigator:
Jessica Zwerling, MD, MS, is a Professor of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Associate Director of the Montefiore-Einstein Center for the Aging Brain, and Director of Clinical Neurology at the Einstein Aging Study. She is the director of the Montefiore-Einstein Memory Disorders Center; the director of the UCSN accredited Geriatric Neurology Fellowship; and the head of the Neurodegenerative Clinical Trials Program. She is a board-certified neurologist and a board-certified neuromuscular specialist. Her research focuses on optimizing healthcare delivery systems and coined the term “culturally competent collaborative care of the cognitively impaired older adult”.
Clinical Leadership Team:
Rubina Malik, MD, MS–Geriatric Lead
Dr. Malik, MD, MS is Associate Professor of Medicine, in the Division of Geriatrics, at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Associate Director of the Montefiore-Einstein Center for the Aging Brain and Fellowship Director of Geriatrics at Montefiore Medical center. Dr. Malik is a clinician educator who has interests in functional and cognitive assessments, and osteoporosis. She has extensive clinical experience in the long-term care setting. She is board certified in Internal medicine, geriatrics and palliative care. She sees patients in both the ambulatory and LTC setting and teaches and supervises trainees in geriatric medicine.
Mirnova Ceide, MD, MS—Geriatric Psychiatry Lead
Dr. Ceïde is an Assistant Professor of Geriatric Psychiatry and Geriatric Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, the Assistant Program Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship and Associate Director of Psychiatry at the Center for the Aging Brain. She completed the Albert Einstein Clinical Research Training Program and attained a Master of Science in Clinical Research. Her research interests include the role of behavioral symptoms like apathy in the development of Alzheimer’s disease and developing community-based interventions for people with cognitive impairment and their caregivers.
Erica F. Weiss, PhD—Neuropsychology Lead
Erica F. Weiss PhD is a lifespan clinical neuropsychologist, Director of the Division of Neuropsychology, Director of the Bilingual/Bicultural Fellowship Program in Neuropsychology, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is the Associate Director of Neuropsychology at the Montefiore Center for the Aging Brain. Dr. Weiss has extensive clinical experience in the assessment of cognition in individuals of diverse cultural, language, education, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Her educational and research interests focus on expanding cognitive services and appropriate cognitive evaluations to a greater percentage of the population including individuals in previously underserved populations.
Advisory Board Leadership:
Joe Verghese, MB, MS, is Professor of Neurology and Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Chief of Montefiore’s integrated divisions of Cognitive & Motor Aging and Geriatrics and the founding Director of the CAB. His research interest is the effects of disease and aging on mobility and cognition in older adults, and he served on panel that recommended cognitive screening instruments for the Medicare Wellness Visit. Dr. Verghese is board certified in Neurology.
Amy Ehrlich, MD, Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is Associate Chief of the Division of Geriatrics at Montefiore and Medical Director of Montefiore Home Care. She has been involved in program design and development in geriatrics education for medical students, residents and fellows. Her research topics include screening for mild cognitive impairment and dementia in ethnically and racially diverse primary care settings. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
