The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore
Services and Treatments
Did you know?
Physiatry is one of the fastest growing fields in medicine. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 18% of the nation’s population has some level of disability—ranging from shoulder bursitis to quadriplegia or stroke. There has recently been a growing need for rehabilitation services, brought on by an increasingly aging population and medical and technological breakthroughs that have improved survival rates following illness or injury.
To stay ahead of this demand and fully serve our communities, Montefiore is actively expanding our PM&R faculty, staff, number of services, locations and fellowship programs. We are also deepening our historical commitment to research and advanced approaches, as is evidenced by our new Human Performance Lab and ICU Early Mobilization Program
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore provides the complete spectrum of leading diagnostic, therapeutic, and minimally invasive treatment options. We treat patients of all ages on both an inpatient and outpatient basis—from newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to geriatrics.
Once under our care, we will perform a comprehensive initial examination that will serve as the foundation for your customized treatment plan. Then, with your ongoing input and participation, our team of physicians, specialists and medical experts provide a complete spectrum of care from start to finish.
Our outstanding physicians and staff have long been at the forefront of many specialized areas of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Today, our scope of services and programs is among the most diverse and comprehensive in the New York metropolitan region and includes:
- Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation
- Early Mobilization in the Intensive Care Units
