Professional Training Programs
Established in the early 1950s, the Department of Radiology at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is comprised of esteemed leaders who provide unparalleled clinical education and research opportunities to residents, fellows and medical students. Education is at the heart of our program. The department is led by Chairman E. Stephen Amis, Jr., MD, and comprised of more than 65 board certified, subspecialized radiologists, who offer trainees comprehensive and dedicated instruction.
The Department of Radiology offers a four-year residency, a two-week Radiology Clerkship for medical students, and several ACGME-accredited fellowships. Employing state-of-the-art equipment at 11 imaging facilities, we train students and housestaff in the entire spectrum of imaging modalities and services. Montefiore is a leader in imaging in the greater New York area. We house 7 MRI scanners (including 3.0 tesla and open scanners) and 12 multidetector CT scanners. Trainees not only learn to conduct and interpret radiological studies, but opportunities are provided for research and hands-on experience with interventional procedures.
Medical students, residents and fellows have a tremendous amount of flexibility with electives and research interests. They are strongly encouraged to pursue their individual goals. A team of mentors assists in every way to facilitate the learning process.
