Institutional Review Board

Montefiore has one of the most experienced Institutional Review Boards in the United States. Its members include clinicians, researchers, bioethicists, biostatisticians, and community members with expertise in every clinical area and age group in the medical center community. IRB review processes have been streamlined so that in most cases, investigators will be apprised of the review status of their protocols within 7 working days of the IRB meeting. Meetings are held monthly and the current schedule is available on  the MMC ORSP webpage.

Cancer related protocols must be reviewed by the Protocol Review Committee (PRC) prior to their presentation at the MMC IRB. Protocols reviewed and approved by the Committee on Clinical Investigations (CCI) of  the Albert Einstein College of Medicine are brought before the MMC IRB as a point of information.
