Brachytherapy

Brachytherapy -- known as radioactive seed implantation -- is a very promising treatment for early stages of prostate cancer. This minimally invasive form of treatment has rapidly become one of the most effective prostate cancer treatments available today.

Brachytherapy works by placing radioactive seeds directly into the affected areas of the prostate gland. These seeds give off radioactivity, which kills cancer cells.

Dr. Norman Kahan, Assistant Professor of Urology, leads the department in this treatment along with the radiation oncology team of physicians in the hospital. The procedure is performed on an ambulatory care basis and allows the patient to quickly recover with one single treatment.

I love placing all my orders electronically. The computer gives me advice, and sometimes even catches my mistakes. It’s hard to remember what it was like to care for patients without the assistance of a computer. [more]
