Wheelchair Service
A multidisciplinary Wheelchair Clinic is held at Montefiore for outpatients who need evaluations for appropriate wheelchairs, scooters, or seating devices. The clinic team includes a full-time Attending physiatrist, resident physician, occupational therapist and the wheelchair vendor.
This is a full spectrum service that can provide any appropriate equipment ranging from simple wheelchairs through a variety of powered chairs and scooters to special need chairs, such as large reinforced sports or other wheelchairs. Seating systems are also prescribed as required. These range from a simple cushion to prevent decubitus ulceration to custom-molded systems for children with spinal deformity.
