Electrodiagnostic Medicine
Electrodiagnosis includes a battery of tests which study the neuromuscular system. Common diagnoses for which such studies will be of value include:
- Nerve entrapment, injury or disease, such as Bell’s Palsy, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Peripheral Neuropathy
- Radiculopathies – Cervical, lumbosacral
- Brachial/Lumbosacral plexus injuries
- Anterior horn cell dysfunction such as ALS
- Neuromuscular junction disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert- Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome
- Muscle diseases such as Polymyositis and myopathy of various causes
Prior to the test, patients receive information sheets describing the test. Following the test, a preliminary report is faxed within 24 hours to the referring physician. A more extensive report is sent 3 – 4 days after the test.
