Programs and Services

A recognized leader in psychiatric treatment, the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center helps patients overcome a wide range of substance abuse and behavioral disorders through our uniquely designed inpatient and outpatient services and treatments. We have a comprehensive emergency and crisis program, one of the most advanced neuropsychiatric service centers, and an exceptional recovery plan for those with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and psychiatric disorders. Plus our psychiatric consultation services are available to patients around the clock for both hospitalized or outpatient needs.

The physicians at our inpatient program focus on evaluating and stabilizing patients for an array of disorders, including:

• Depression
• Anxiety
• Bipolar disorder
• Obsessive compulsive disorder

Our outpatient services are for those who have achieved some stability, but still require additional therapy for psychiatric symptoms. Our specialty outpatient programs offer treatment for many concerns, such as:

• A full range of alcohol or other substance abuse
• Cognitive behavioral disorders (i.e. panic issues, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders, and post-traumatic stress)
• Memory disorders
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Schizophrenia
• Sexual dysfunction
• Adolescent suicide and depression

Members of our treatment team includes: psychiatrists, psychologists and neuropsychologists, nurses, and licensed independent clinical social workers who all meet rigorous requirements at Montefiore to ensure each patient experiences the best possible care.

Consultation Services
We offer psychiatric consultation services 24/7 to patients hospitalized for pediatric, medical, or surgical reasons and to outpatients. Our consultants closely interact with surgeons, nurses, and physicians to reduce psychiatric problems associated with patients' admission to the hospital and create a more comfortable environment for them.
