Montefiore North Division Internal Medicine Residency Program
Sponsored by New York Medical College
Welcome to the North Division of Montefiore Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program. I hope that you find this Web site informative and useful. Having been involved in the resident selection process for many years, I am aware of how difficult it can be. Hopefully, these pages will make the process a bit simpler for all interested candidates.
Previously known as Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, our hospital is now the North Division of Montefiore Medical Center. The medicine program includes 67 residents at the R1, 2 and 3 levels, and is fully accredited by ACGME. We offer our residents broad clinical training, in order to provide them with an exceptional background, either to practice primary care internal medicine or to enter one of the various subspecialty areas. We have a full-time/part-time staff of 35 attending physicians, representing general internal medicine and all subspecialties. These dedicated clinicians, many of whom are actively involved in ongoing scholarly activity, are readily available to assist you through the intense experience of residency training.
Over the past decade we have had a consistently high ABIM pass rate, achieving 100% many times with an overall cumulative rate of greater than 95%. More importantly, we produce physicians who are confidently able to handle any clinical situation. Many of our graduates contact us after they have gone into practice to thank us for the high-quality training they received at our hospital. Each year we are faced with the task of selecting a group of candidates from an applicant pool that frequently comprises more than 3,000 applicants. We continue to seek well-qualified residents who will uphold the tradition that we have established.
For further information please see the "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ's) page, which has been carefully designed to address topics about which most prospective residency candidates are concerned.
