Residency
All divisions in the Department are staffed by full-time faculty members under the educational direction of the Vice Chairman and Program Director. The educational priority of the Department is to prepare trainees thoroughly for the next phase of their careers, including:

primary care medicine;

subspecialty training;

academic teaching and research.
Candidates for internal medicine residency may choose from the following program designs:

a three-year categorical internal medicine program emphasizing a balanced ambulatory and in-patient curriculum and leading to the American Board of Internal Medicine eligibility;

a primary care track integrated with the basic three-year program;
-
a five-year Medical Scientist Pathway track designed for clinician scientists seeking research and clinical training;

a one-year preliminary residency program;
-
a primary care social internal medicine program.
