Elements We Share With Other Programs

Like many other programs, our residency training is committed to rigorous standards of clinical excellence. We believe that this single standard of medical care should be available to all and that special skills and knowledge are required to deliver such care to the underserved.

Board Eligibility

Our residency leads to board eligibility in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Family Practice. It offers a clinical background comparable to that provided in other programs. For board eligibility, each trainee must meet the clinical standards set by the American Boards of Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.

Clinical Rotations

Clinical rotations on inpatient and ambulatory specialty services are available in almost every medical specialty and subspecialty somewhere within the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine complex. Off-site clinical electives may also be negotiated.

Important Details

The training period is three years, and Postgraduate Year 1 applicants are asked to make a three-year commitment. Occasionally, second-year positions are available. We seek to attract people who are not only interested in obtaining clinical expertise, but who also want to go beyond traditional training. Applicants should be aware that this is an innovative, self-managed program. As such, its strength depends on the goals, ambitions, and energies of its members. We are looking for people who are committed to finding constructive, creative solutions to the problems facing our health care system. We encourage applications from women and people of color.

Moses Division Hospital

Montefiore excels at using the most current evidenced based medicine to care for patients. For physician assistants like me, that means the opportunity to learn hands-on from specialists who are experts in their field. It’s one of the best parts of working at a world-renowned academic medical center over a small community hospital. [more]
