Residency

The Residency Program in the Department of Anesthesiology at Montefiore, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. This rigorous, interdisciplinary program offers residents rotations in cardiothoracic, neuro, pediatric, obstetric, critical care and pain management anesthesia subspecialties. We also believe that a supportive, collaborative environment is key to developing residents' skills and judgment. Residents are mentored by leaders in these fields, gaining hands on access to sophisticated techniques and technologies. Upon completion of their training, residents will have greatly developed their clinical expertise and be prepared for a rewarding career path in either academic or private practice.

Our curriculum encompasses many educational opportunities outside the operating room, including: live lectures, which are also available on the web, problem-based learning discussions, oral and written board preparations, online webinars and podcasts, journal club, research seminars and airway simulation. Weekly grand rounds give faculty and residents the opportunity to invite distinguished speakers from Montefiore and around the world to discuss complex and interesting cases.

Complementing our curriculum is a range of research opportunities in both clinical trials and project-based research. To encourage our residents in their research projects, the Department of Anesthesiology has a dedicated research coordinator who can advise residents on study protocols and Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines for human subject research.
