Pediatric Residency - Housing

Resident Life: Where to Live

The majority of residents at The Children’s Hospital At Montefiore (CHAM) are split between the Bronx in Montefiore Medical Center-owned housing and the Upper East Side. However, residents travel to work from all over, including many neighborhoods within Manhattan, Queens, and New Jersey.

If being close to work is a priority, Montefiore offers three apartment buildings to choose from - Montefiore I and II are approximately two minutes away from CHAM on foot and an apartment in Riverdale is 10 minutes away by car.

Montefiore I Building: This 12 story building is located at 3411 Wayne Avenue, Bronx NY. Studio, one bedroom and two bedroom units are available. Apartments include central AC and some units include a terrace.

Montefiore II Building: This 28 story building is located at 3450 Wayne Avenue, Bronx NY. Studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom units are available. All units have a terrace and central air.

Riverdale Building: This building is located at 3636 Waldo Avenue, Bronx, NY. Studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments are available. All units have central air. Shuttle service is available to and from the hospital.

Upper East Side: The majority of CHAM residents who call Manhattan home live in New York City’s classic neighborhood on the Upper East Side. Running from the East River to Fifth Ave and between 59th street and 96th street, this community boasts delicious restaurants, beautiful parks and plenty of night-life. If you can find an apartment near the #4 subway line, you’ll be able to make it to and from CHAM in less than 40 minutes.

The rest of NYC: If you chose to extend your apartment search beyond the Upper East Side, you’ll want to continue to look for apartments that are close to either the #4 or D subway train. If you have a car, Montefiore offers parking for $60/month that can be automatically deducted from your paycheck.
