February 12, 2002: MONTEFIORE MEDICAL CENTER DESIGNATED A REGIONAL PERINATAL CENTER BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
BRONX, N.Y (February 12, 2002) - Montefiore Medical Center has been designated a regional perinatal center (RPC) by the New York State Department of Health. As an RPC, Montefiore offers specialized perinatal treatment for high-risk pregnancies and has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for premature infants. In addition, this certification formalizes the collaboration between Montefiore and its affiliates, Flushing Hospital and Bronx Lebanon Hospital, and provides the community with a comprehensive system of high level perinatal care.
