Montefiore's Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health Opens New Brewster Office

Hartsdale, NY (July 31, 2009) -- Montefiore's Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health has opened a new branch office in Brewster and began seeing patients on July 30. With the growing number of couples seeking fertility treatment, this location will serve an increased number of patients who live in Putnam County, Northern Westchester and Connecticut.

Fertility specialist Edward Illions, MD will be available for initial consultations and follow up appointments every Thursday. The Brewster branch is located at 1663 Route 22, Colonial Square. Appointments can be made by calling 914-997-1060.

If theraputic treatment is necessary, patients will be referred to the Hartsdale office, which is a full service facility located at 141 South Central Ave. "Our comprehensive, interdisciplinary and highly specialized services meet the complete needs for individuals experiencing fertility problems," said Harry Lieman, MD, Medical Director of Montefiore's Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health. "With the latest in reproductive technologies and a world-renowned team of physicians, the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options are available right here in Westchester and surrounding areas."

A complete range of advanced treatment options for men and women are available, which include Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE), Blastocyst transfer, Cryopreservation,Assisted hatching, preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PDG) and sperm donors. The Donor Egg Program was established in 1986 and Montefiore Medical Center was one of the first in New York to establish one. The center includes on-site operating suites, treatment and recovery rooms, and a full-service laboratory.  The laboratory is open seven days a week for both andrology (for semen analysis and sperm preparation) and endocrinology (for analysis of hormones).

All the physicians on staff have academic appointments at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  This academic connection frequently offers the opportunity for patients to enroll in clinical studies to improve treatment outcomes or facilitate new therapies in the field of reproductive medicine.
