New York, NY (October 18, 2004) -- An exciting week for Carl and Clarence Aguirre and their medical team at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) culminated in a visit to CHAM by the twins' favorite singing group, The Wiggles.
"It's amazing and incredible to be here with my two boys for something so fun," said mother Arlene Aguirre, who accompanied her sons to CHAM as preparations continue for the boys' next surgeries. The Wiggles, a favorite singing group loved by children worldwide, made a special appearance at CHAM to entertain the patients there after learning that Carl and Clarence love to watch their TV show.
Clarence was up to the tricks with which medical staff have become quite familiar, tossing the Wiggles' media materials onto the floor and pulling on his mother's camera strap. Carl observed the zany quartet from his stroller, reaching out to grab some of the bountiful toys given to every patient in the hospital by the colorful Aussies.
Though jetlagged after a long flight from Sydney, Murray, Jeff, Anthony and Greg (The Wiggles) insisted upon visiting CHAM, where the historic separation surgery was performed, before the start of their US tour. They won over many more young friends as they visited four floors of the youngest patients who were unable to attend the 20-minute show The Wiggles put on in one of the CHAM playrooms. The Wiggles had CHAM patients (and Dr. Staffenberg) dancing to renditions of "Point Your Finger and Do The Twist," "Hot Potato," and "Monkey Dance" during their two-hour visit. They added lullabys to their performance list when they encountered sleepy patients.
