New York City, NY (February 22, 2004) -- Doctors at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) today reported that Carl and Clarence slept well throughout the second night following their surgery. "The boys both look very good, and we have seen no evidence of neurological damage," said David Staffenberg, MD, chief of pediatric plastic surgery at CHAM. "I changed their dressings this morning, and everything looks great. Arlene is also doing just fine."
Carl and Clarence will remain in the pediatric critical care unit at CHAM for a few days while the highly-specialized team of nurses, technicians and doctors keeps a close watch on the boys who are still at risk for excessive bleeding, stroke, seizures and infections. Please check back tomorrow for more detailed information on their conditions and the medical team's perspective.
