Montefiore Medical Center believes in a family-centered approach to patient care. We keep family members informed and educated about their loved one’s condition and make it easy to support the patient through visits, calls and even by donating blood, when needed. Family, friends and visitors can find information here on how to contact patients during their stay and other helpful information for when visiting the hospital.
Unless noted, the following information applies for the West Campus, the East Campus and the North Campus.
Each patient has a phone at their bedside. All incoming calls are free to the patient. However, patients are unable to make long-distance calls from their bedside telephones unless they use a calling card or place a collect call.
To ensure cards and flowers reach the correct patient, please include the following on all deliveries:

Family and friends are welcome to eat with patients. Visitors may also eat in the hospital cafeterias or in the Coffee Shops located in Moses Hospital. In addition, there are a variety of restaurants in the neighborhoods around each hospital.
Family members or friends who match a patient's blood type may donate blood to be received by the patient. In the case of surgery, the blood must be drawn at least five working days before the date of the procedure to allow time for processing for transfusion. Donated blood may be saved for no more than 35 days. Contact the Montefiore Blood Bank with questions or to make an appointment at 718-920-4810, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.
