We invite you to consider Montefiore Medical Center or The Children's Hospital at Montefiore in your estate plan. To discuss a bequest intention, please call (718) 920-6656. We will help you and/or your financial advisor to develop testamentary language to suit your purposes and answer your questions about services, research activities, and naming opportunities. If you have already included Montefiore in your estate, we invite you to let us know so that we might thank you during your lifetime.
There are several types of testamentary gifts:
Cash bequest: Montefiore receives a specified dollar amount.
Residuary bequest: Montefiore receives all or a percentage of the remainder of an estate after other bequests, taxes, and expenses have been deducted.
Contingent bequest: Property is distributed to Montefiore only if you outlive other named beneficiaries.
Bequest of IRA or other retirement plan: A tax-deferred retirement plan can be a useful tool for making a charitable bequest. Tax-wise donors know that such plans are taxable to heirs but free of income taxes when given to a tax-exempt organization such as Montefiore. To use an IRA or qualified plan for charitable giving, you simply need to use the plan's beneficiary designation form. An appropriate designation would be Montefiore Medical Center (Bronx, NY) or The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (Bronx, NY).
The following language is recommended for a bequest to Montefiore Medical Center or The Children's Hospital at Montefiore:
I (bequeath or devise) to MONTEFIORE MEDICAL CENTER (or The Children's Hospital at Montefiore), in Bronx, New York (dollar amount or percentage of residuary estate) to be used for (operating support, research, medical education, or other defined purpose).
