Family and Social Medicine
Mentorship
Inspiring and training the next generation of healthcare professionals is an important part of the mission at Montefiore Medical Center.
The Department of Family and Social Medicine's Summer Undergraduate Mentorship Program (SUMP), offered through the Hispanic Center for Excellence at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is a six-week intensive curriculum that pairs college students with working physicians, providing them with a first-hand look at the medical profession.
The goals of the program are to motivate students to pursue careers in medicine, build confidence and foster working mentorship relationships. Students get the opportunity to shadow a physician in their preferred specialty field, and also attend lectures and workshops that cover a variety of topics related to the medical field.
