At Montefiore, we have always invested in the latest healthcare and information technology and we are excited to share that we are currently undergoing an 'Epic' transformation to enhance our clinical information systems and our patients' healthcare experience.

Epic, an innovative electronic medical record (EMR) system will provide our organization with an integrated way to safely document and access patient information—from any of our facilities. Epic also will integrate and streamline our clinical and operational functions, and enable clinicians, clinical managers, finance, registration and scheduling to work collaboratively across our care delivery system.

Montefiore will join the more than 270 health systems around the world currently using Epic, including leading academic medical centers and large integrated health delivery systems—such as Yale, Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins.

Epic's aim is to advance clinical and operational workflow that will maximize patient safety, improve the quality of patient care, and enhance organizational efficiency through an integrated delivery system. It also will provide an integrated, streamlined clinical documentation tool that enhances workflow for all caregivers and makes appropriate information accessible to physicians, nurses, ancillary care teams and administrative staff.
 
Once Epic is implemented at Montefiore  it will allow for interoperability—a patient's chart can move with that patient across all areas such as outpatient clinics, the Emergency Department, and inpatient facilities. Patients also will be able to access key parts of their medical records through an online portal.

Experience Epic

We've made a significant investment in Epic technology and we're heavily investing in our staff.  We've sent over 100 Epic associates, including clinical training managers and instructional designers, to Wisconsin to become Epic-certified.

In fact, some of our existing Epic team members have transferred their knowledge from roles in nursing, pharmacy, cardiology, and clinical management to join this pioneering initiative. Like many others, they believe that learning new skills is not an option, but a requirement for success.  

We encourage talented and dedicated people with varied backgrounds, including clinical, management, financial, technical and operational, to join us. No Epic experience is required. Montefiore will pay for selected team members to become Epic-certified, which will provide you with highly sought after knowledge and experience that will help further enhance your career opportunities.
