Biography
Sumita (Bobbie) Sinha, MD, joins the Montefiore Division of Pulmonary Medicine, with advanced training in critical care. She is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Sinha’s clinical interests include treating and educating patients who suffer from asthma. Her focus will be working with primary care physicians, allergists, pediatric pulmonologists and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans. She will evaluate patient risks for asthma exacerbation, educating patients about environmental triggers and designing a course of action to help each patient manage the disease. In addition to her work with asthma patients, Dr. Sinha treats patients with other pulmonary diseases, such as sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary complications of organ transplant. Dr. Sinha is licensed to practice medicine in New York. She is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease and board eligible in critical care. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and completed her internal medicine residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She also completed her pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai in New York. Dr. Sinha has studied outcomes in patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and submitted a retrospective case study entitled “Predictors of Deterioration Requiring MICU Admission in Patients with SIRS Presenting to the ED,” which was presented at the annual meeting of the American Thoracic Society in 2010. She also published “Seasonal Variation in the Epidemiology of Sepsis” in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Sinha is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society.
