Dr. Stefan K. Barta has been an attending physician on the adult BMT and hematological malignancies team at Montefiore since 2010. He received his medical degree from the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the Bart’s and The London NHS Trust in London, UK. He received further subspecialty fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at the Albert-Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Barta’s additional post-graduate research training culminated in a Master’s degree in Clinical Research Methodology at the Albert-Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Barta has a strong interest in clinical research and his efforts as a physician-scientist have been recognized at the 12th Annual ECOG-ACRIN Young Investigator Symposium for the “Best Clinical Research Presentation” and with the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award. He is currently involved in multiple investigator-initiated and multicenter trials for a broad range of hematological malignancies.
His main professional interest focuses on the treatment of HIV-associated lymphomas, chemo-immunotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and conditioning strategies for multiple myeloma. He is an active member of the AIDS Malignancy Consortium (AMC) Lymphoma Working Group.
