- Dr. Andreopoulou is board-certified in Internal Medicine as well as in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She is also a Certified Clinical Densitometrist and is licensed to practice medicine in New York. A United States citizen, she received her medical degree at the University of Athens Medical School in Athens, Greece, and completed her residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in Queens. Dr. Andreopoulou completed an ACGME fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, which included a two year fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases and a one year fellowship in Clinical Endocrinology at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Andreopoulou recently published “Selective Catheterization for the Localization of Phosphaturic Mesenchymal Tumors” in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research and received The Endocrine Society Award for her presentation on Tumor-Induced Osteomalacia this year. She is a member of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry, the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Andreopoulou’s clinical and research training at the NIH has enabled her to study a wide variety of rare diseases, including neuroendocrine tumors. In addition to her clinical practice at Montefiore , Dr. Andreopoulou will also devote a portion of her time to researching neuroendocrine tumors and plans to continue collaboration with the NIH to research FGF23.
