Biography

David Gonzalez, MD, is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in treating sports injuries and is an expert in performing arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery including rotator cuff repair, instability repair, labral repair and treatment of associated conditions. He also serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine with honors and was elected to the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. After serving his orthopaedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the NirschlOrthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic at Arlington Memorial Hospital.

The results of his research have been presented at local and national professional meetings, as well as published in peer-reviewed journals. His recent findings on the basic science of rotator cuff tendon healing were presented at the Orthopaedic Research Society Meeting in March of 2016.

For his work as sports team doctor at several high schools in the area and Lehman College, Dr. Gonzalez was honored with the Pedro Vialet Award for Dedication to Lehman College and highlighted on ABC news. He is also fluent in Spanish.
