Orthopaedic oncology, diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant tumors involving the bones and soft tissues of the extremities and the pelvis.

Osteosarcoma, with an interest in innovative treatment strategies for both local disease control and high through-put screening techniques;the evaluation of expression patterns in osteosarcoma and surgical margins using a xenograft osteosarcoma murine model;and the functional role of bone morphogenetic proteins in osteosarcoma surgery including limb-sparing surgical techniques, augmentation of allograft bone healing, use of intra-operative navigation techniques for tumor surgery, and thromboembolic prophylaxis in the pediatric sarcoma population
David S. Geller is a board-certified, orthopaedic oncology surgeon who treats both pediatric and adult patients with tumors or tumor-related conditions and metastatic carcinoma of the bone. A member of the faculty at Montefiore since 2006, he is Co-Director of the Orthopaedic Oncology Program as well as an Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Geller is known for his expertise in musculoskeletal tumor surgery, with specific experience in bone and soft-tissue sarcomas, such as osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, liposarcoma, synovial sarcoma and metastatic carcinoma of the bone plus joint reconstruction using custom-designed implants.
Dr. Geller earned his medical degree from Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine. After serving his residency at Montefiore, he completed the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Children's Hospital Boston, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
As the Associate Director of the Musculoskeletal Oncology Research Laboratory at Montefiore, he leads research to investigate the pathophysiology and molecular mechanisms of bone and soft tissue cancers. He is actively involved in musculoskeletal cancer research and collaborative clinical trials both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Geller is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Muskuloskeletal Tumor Society, Connective Tissue Oncology Society, Children's Oncology Group and the American Association for Cancer Research.
