Montefiore News Releases

June 21, 2012

What: Everyone suffers from headaches at some point in their lives, but migraine is not just an intense headache. It is an extremely debilitating collection of neurological symptoms that usually includes a severe recurring intense throbbing pain on one side of the head (although in 1/3 of migraine attacks, both sides are affected). Attacks last between 4 and 72 hours and are often accompanied by one or more of the following: visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, extreme sensitivity to sound, light, touch and smell, and tingling or numbness in the extremities or face. Of course, everyone is different, and symptoms vary by person and sometimes by attack.( Via Migraine Research Foundation)

Montefiore Medical Center (@MontefioreNews) and The Migraine Research Foundation (@MigraineRF) are co-hosting a twitter chat on Migraines -- when you should see a specialist, how migraines are diagnosed, the psychological dimensions of migraines and how they can be treated.

When: Thursday, June 28, 2pm EST

Where: Follow the chat on Twitter at #MigraineChat (We encourage you to leave questions in advance of the chat)
