High-speed, Wireless Internet Accessible in Patient Rooms, Waiting Areas, and Outdoor Courtyards

Bronx, NY (March 9, 2011) -- Patients and guests at Montefiore Medical Center now have access to high-speed, wireless Internet inside patient rooms, waiting areas and outdoor courtyards. Patients and guests are using their laptops, iPhones and other mobile devices throughout Montefiore's four campuses to connect to the new wireless system.  Over 7,000 users have accessed the Montefiore Wi-Fi network since going live over two months ago.

"We are always looking for ways to set ourselves apart and increase patient satisfaction," said Jack Wolf, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Montefiore. "Our patients and guests have been asking for Wi-Fi, so we were pleased to offer them this hospital-wide solution."

The service is available at Montefiore's four campuses: the Moses Division, the Weiler Division, the Children's Hospital at Montefiore and the Montefiore North Division.

The network was installed by Inspire Wi-Fi, a company that will provide Montefiore with ongoing 24/7 support services.   The new system is a stand-alone patient-guest network and is separate from, and will not interfere with, the existing physician and nurse network.   No pass word will be required to use the system.
