- Trained originally in India, Dr. Agarwal did an additional residency in pediatrics in New York and then studied pediatric endocrinology at Columbia University, where she published five papers. After finishing a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology in 2007, she became an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an attending physician at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Agarwal’s research interest is the effects of obesity and insulin resistance on cardiovascular health in children and adolescents, with a goal to identify groups at higher risk for insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. She also holds the title of Expert Consultant, International Rett Syndrome Foundation, and in addition to her clinical and research work, Dr. Agarwal is actively involved with teaching of pediatric house staff, fellows and medical students in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
