With an average of 20 years of experience and diverse clinical backgrounds, our neuroanesthesiologists provide high-quality perioperative care for our neurosurgical patients. Utilizing the latest intra-operative neurophysiological monitoring and anesthetic techniques, we have the tools and know-how to assure the best possible neurological outcomes for our patients. Our team is available 24/7 to care for patients in both the operating room and our Neuroradiology Suites.
The Neuroanesthesia team works closely with members of the departments of neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, and orthopedic spine surgery to provide advanced and innovative care with a multidisciplinary approach. Our faculty provide state of the art care for the breadth of neurosurgeries including open and endovascular treatment of intracranial vascular disease, awake craniotomy for functional neurosurgery, and complex tumors of the brain and spine. The Neuroanesthesia team is also deeply integrated in the care of acute strokes, playing a vital clinical role at Montefiore’s Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Our neuroanesthesiologists train our anesthesia residents during a two-month rotation in Neuroanesthesiology. Working with a small group of attending physicians, residents administer total intravenous anesthesia, interpret multimodality electrophysiological monitoring data, perform awake fiber optic intubations and care for neurological and neurosurgical emergencies. Treating more than 1,600 patients with neurosurgical interventions each year, our faculty ensure that residents are exceptionally trained for future clinical practice.
