Donor Eggs

We understand why you're here, what your goals are, and that you are determined to reach them. That's why we focus on what is possible, rather than what is not possible when it comes to your fertility options. A viable solution may be to seek a donor egg, and you've arrived at the right place to investigate whether or not it's appropriate for you.

The physicians at Montefiore Medical Center were among the first in New York to establish a donor egg program in 1986. Since then, we've been helping numerous women who are unable to produce healthy eggs fulfill their dream of becoming pregnant successfully via IVF and donor eggs. Other candidates for donor eggs include those who are experiencing premature menopause, have a genetic disorder or chromosomal abnormalty, or are survivors of cancer therapy.

Egg donors may be known (i.e. relatives or friends) or anonymous. We have a wealth of experience assisting individuals and couples in the selection of suitable egg matches for those seeking an anonymous donor. Donors are carefully screened physically and psychologically, and recipients may request special characteristics of a donor.

Women over the age of 45 must pass a thorough medical clearance in order to be accepted to the program. Additionally a perinatal consult is required for all candidates. We have a fantastic clinical psychologist on staff who will be able to address any concerns and answer your questions. She also happens to be a donor egg recipient, who gave birth to two beautiful children with the help of Montefiore's Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health.

No restrictions are placed upon age for donor egg recipients; in fact, one of our patients who completed the program was 52 years old when she gave birth to her twins. We are also proud to report that our recipients enjoy a greater pregnancy rate than the average IVF patient.
