Highest Three-Star Rating by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons

For the third year in a row, Montefiore's renowned Cardiac Surgery Program at Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care was awarded the highest three-star rating by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, a nonprofit organization representing more than 6,000 surgeons, researchers and healthcare professionals worldwide. The rating reflects the highest level of quality care delivered for cardiovascular surgical procedures. U.S. News & World Report: America's Best Hospitals

Montefiore placed among the top hospitals in the country in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Hospitals" 2013-2014 and seventh in the New York metro area in U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals metro area rankings. The Medical Center also ranked nationally in a number of specialties, including cardiology and heart surgery. The U.S. News ranking considers such criteria as reputation, patient survival, patient safety and care-related factors such as nursing, technology and patient services. New York Magazine's 2013 Top Doctors

Montefiore physicians are annually recognized in New York Magazine's "Best Doctors" issue, which identifies the top doctors in New York City, Westchester County, Long Island and portions of New Jersey and Connecticut. In 2013, Montefiore's specialists were recognized regionally as top doctors in the following areas: cardiovascular disease, pediatric cardiology, vascular surgery, and cardiac and thoracic surgery. Super Doctors

Several cardiologists and surgeons were among the Montefiore and Einstein faculty members chosen for the Super Doctors listing of outstanding physicians. Candidates are evaluated on indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement such as years of experience, hospital appointments, fellowships, professional activities and leadership positions.
