The Montefiore Center for Joint Replacement Surgery, a division of our top-ranked Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, opened its doors at our Wakefield Campus with a state-of-the-art facility, a team of highly experienced orthopaedic surgeons, and a desire to deliver personalized, research-focused, leading-edge care.

The result is a unique, multispecialty medical practice focused on the use of innovative technology to treat the entire spectrum of joint conditions affecting the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow and ankle. The most familiar ones include:

  • Osteoarthritis;
  • Post-traumatic arthritis;
  • Rheumatoid arthritis;
  • Avascular necrosis;
  • Congenital birth defects;
  • Slipped capital femoral epiphysis.

At our facility, we offer patients custom services and treatments that ensure the best possible outcome and quickest recovery. Our mission is to return each individual to full mobility through leading-edge joint replacement surgery provided in an efficient, informative and compassionate environment.

Individualized, Patient-Centered Care That Puts You and Your Family First

Montefiore Center for Joint Replacement Surgery offers multidisciplinary, integrated treatments that include minimally invasive approaches and blood-sparing techniques for procedures such as hip arthroscopy and resurfacing; hip replacement surgery via anterior and posterior approaches; total knee replacement; unicondylar and patellofemoral knee replacement and complex revision surgeries.

We understand that anxiety and uncertainty are common feelings for anyone facing surgery. With this in mind, at the Montefiore Center for Joint Replacement Surgery we work to ease such concerns from the initial point of contact by focusing on collaborative care, developing a relationship from the first moment of contact. Our personalized, inclusive approach is rooted in a partnership between providers, patients and their families in order to improve outcomes and overall satisfaction.  Your needs (and the needs of your loved ones) are always first and foremost.

A Unique Multidisciplinary Approach to Deliver High-Quality Treatment

Our multidisciplinary team of board-certified fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists, nurse practitioners, physiotherapists, radiologists, nurses, and social workers work to provide a comprehensive care plan for each patient. Thanks to cutting-edge diagnostics and a wealth of information now available to patients, we are identifying joint conditions at an earlier stage than years ago. As a result, while surgery may be necessary for some patients, many can be treated via nonsurgical solutions such as medication and/or physical therapy. If those options have been exhausted, it may be time to consider surgery.

At Montefiore, our joint replacement surgeons constantly strive to improve the services we deliver and are excited about the future. Because we are also the academic faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, we invest significant amounts of time and resources into researching new treatment options and techniques. Our researchers are also conducting studies on the cellular mechanisms that lead to early implant failure. Our orthopaedists are not only talented and caring surgeons, but truly gifted scientists as well, so when breakthroughs are made, Montefiore patients are the first to benefit.
