Using both surgical and non-surgical treatments, our board-certified fellowship trained hand surgeons care for all functional problems extending from the tips of the fingers to the shoulders. Many concerns, such as a broken wrist due to osteoporosis, can be addressed with a cast, but other situations require surgery. However, we make every attempt to treat each patient as conservatively as possible first before discussing possible surgical options with you.
Unlike many other hospitals that specialize in one or few areas, our extraordinary team treats all common conditions such as: carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, trigger finger, tennis elbow, accidents involving cut tendons and nerves, and distal radius fractures. Part of our mission on the hand services at Montefiore is to participate in research studies that contribute to long-term benefits of patients. Currently we are studying the frequency of distal radius (wrist) fractures in order to utilize this information as a screening technique for osteoporosis, since many patients do not realize they have it. Our team is also on the forefront of investigation of treatment options for many common workplace repetitive use conditions. The team searches tirelessly for the best ways to treat the most common and the most unusual of hand conditions.
