The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center is a multidisciplinary department, including more than 30 fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons and podiatrists. Our department cares for approximately 120,000 patient visits per year.
Our physicians are also actively involved in teaching medical students from Albert Einstein College of Medicine; we coordinate residency training programs in orthopaedic surgery and podiatric surgery and are involved in both clinical and basic science research in musculoskeletal medicine.
We focus on patient-centered care and are higly skilled at treating many routine problems that develop in the musculoskeletal system. In addition, our specialists deliver highly specialized care and are experts in adult reconstruction and joint replacement surgery, foot and ankle surgery, spine surgery, sports medicine and shoulder surgery, musculoskeletal tumor surgery, trauma surgery and pediatric orthopaedic surgery.
The majority of our patients can be successfully treated without surgery. We partner with our patients to develop treatment plans that achieve maximal benefit for each individual. Patients are often successfully treated in collaboration with other Montefiore departments, including physical and occupational therapy, interventional musculoskeletal radiology, physical and rehabilitation medicine, and plastic surgery.
