Support Services

A disorder that affects the ability to communicate—be it hearing loss or a speech problem—can have a profound effect on a person's day-to-day life and ability to interact with others. At the Institute for Human Communication at Montefiore Medical Center, we know how difficult it can be for a patient suffering from this kind of disorder, and we provide an array of services to support them throughout the duration of their treatment.

Services include:

• Patients have access to on-site translation services for those who speak another language.
• Our expert speech pathologists work with patients in need of voice, language or swallowing therapy.
• Our audiologists can assist the hearing-impaired with everything from conversation management to making the best use of their hearing aids.
