Both Boards Vote to Sign Letter of Intent & Begin Plan Development

Bronx, NY and Nyack, NY (June 26, 2014) – Montefiore Health System, a premier academic medical center and the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine; and Nyack Hospital, a leading community hospital in Rockland County; today announced plans for Nyack Hospital to become a part of the Montefiore Health System. Montefiore’s Board of Directors approved a letter of intent with Nyack Hospital at its meeting on Tuesday. The Nyack Hospital Board of Trustees also voted in support of the decision on June 20.

Safyer, M.D., president and CEO, Montefiore. “Montefiore is focused on building a regional healthcare delivery system that is closely aligned with community physicians and groups.”

The letter of intent outlines plans to enhance care and offer new forms of population health services to Rockland County residents. As healthcare delivery reform continues its transformation, Montefiore is focused on improving care through increased strategic partnerships.

The formalization of the new agreement will be completed in the coming weeks and the transaction is subject to approval.
