America's Most Wired Hospitals
For the third year in a row, Montefiore Medical Center has been named one of "America's Most Wired Hospitals" by Hospitals & Health Networks, a publication of the American Hospital Association (AHA). This award is given to hospitals who successfully implement technology across hospital operations including: clinical care and patient safety, infrastructure, business and administrative management, and care continuum. According to the AHA, hospitals that embrace this technology demonstrate better outcomes in patient satisfaction, risk-adjusted mortality rates and other key quality measurements.
The award is based on the 2012 Most Wired survey, a national review conducted by McKesson Corporation, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the American Hospital ssociation. This year, 1,570 hospitals participated in the survey.
A leader in integrating technology into patient care, Montefiore has documented patient information using electronic medical records for more than ten years. Montefiore is aggressively moving forward to develop innovative technologies to ensure patient safety and more broadly to support accountable care and patient-centered medical home initiatives. Montefiore has recently launched a new website to address the needs of consumers and professionals and has launched several social media endeavors (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) for community outreach and communication.
