Montefiore - Einstein Heart Center

Cardiology

At the Montefiore-Einstein Heart Center, we realize our patients are eager to return to the lives their illnesses forced them to put on hold. Our exceptionally skilled and experienced cardiologists are committed to the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease through leading, innovative therapies and clinical best practices — many of which are offered to our patients before they become generally available at other hospitals and heart centers. Our remarkable team of specialists is dedicated to restoring health to patients with all stages and types of heart disease, including many who believe they are without options.

Our physicians openly and regularly discuss conditions, treatment options and procedure details with our patients and their families. We listen to their concerns and encourage them to ask any and all questions. Appointments are made in a timely manner and doctors, nurses and support staff are always accessible to help patients navigate every step of their journey.

Innovation

The world's first transvenous pacemaker system was developed and used at Montefiore and, today, we remain at the forefront of cardiac medicine and surgery. We have received millions of research dollars from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study the genetics of heart disease, the molecular biology of heart muscle and the causes of heart failure. We continuously seek out minimally invasive solutions for complex conditions to help ensure the quickest recovery possible. Through our innovative procedures and treatments, the Montefiore-Einstein Heart Center is pushing the boundaries of current research and redefining the field of cardiology.

A Comprehensive Range of Cardiology Services

Our cardiology team offers comprehensive cardiology services for our patients including:

Consultive cardiology

Consultive Cardiologists create a customized treatment plans based on the specific needs of each patient through individualized consultations. Plans may range from behavior modification to lessen the risk of serious heart complications, to treatments that improve quality of life for patients with advanced cardiac diseases.

Cardiac imaging

Equipped with the largest echocardiogram laboratory in New York City, our team of imaging experts works together to achieve superior views of the heart to enable an accurate diagnosis. We are committed to pursuing the latest advances in cardiac imagery—from transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) to cutting-edge three-dimensional technology that allows cardiologists to obtain the clearest picture of cardiac arteries available today.

Interventional cardiology

Our Interventional Cardiologists offer a complete array of diagnostic and treatment tools—from cardiac catheterization to a full range of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) such as angioplasty and stent. Montefiore was among the first hospitals in the region to utilize advanced 3-D imaging technology and we continue to offer the most innovative techniques in the field.

Arrhythmia services

Providing a full battery of non-invasive diagnostic testing, our Arrhythmia experts concentrate on patient care and comfort in securing proper diagnoses. Through the use of electrophysiology studies, we can pinpoint the cause of arrhythmia and use the information to make choices about the best course of treatment.

Advanced cardiac care

Experts at the Center for Advanced Cardiac Therapy offer patients a full range of heart failure treatment, from the latest cardiac medications to mechanical heart assist devices, such as the heart pump, to transplants.

Adult congenital heart disease

Medical breakthroughs over the past few decades have significantly increased survival rates of children born with heart defects. Consequently, more adults now live with congenital heart disease than children. Unlike many facilities, we have a physician dedicated to treating adults with CHD. The Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program provides multidisciplinary care to address their unique challenges and needs for specialized care throughout their adult life.
