Educational Development

Nursing leadership pushes the boundaries of education by encouraging an interdisciplinary environment and nurses' professional development. Our nurses acquire new knowledge and skills through a variety of programs, including:

  • Leadership development seminars designed and conducted by the Division of Education and Organizational Development
  • Mentorship and professional management

In addition, a variety of clinical and management continuing education courses are available to clinical and management staff, with contact hours awarded by an approved contact hour provider.

Administrative leadership constantly evaluates our nurses' educational needs. To meet these needs, we offer continuing education programs throughout the year, including workshops for registered professional nurses on enhancing communication, problem-solving and delegating effectively. Management development needs are met through forums and learning circuits that address management issues and target the development of specific management and leadership skills.

Our team also offers a summer Clinical Assistance Program to nursing students, providing them with invaluable clinical experience, preceptorship with a professional nurse and a professional development series to advance clinical knowledge.

Continuing Education Units for Nursing are offered through eLearning modules and at various events throughout Montefiore.
