Relief Effort In Puerto Rico

Montefiore doctors, nurses and other associates who volunteered to join medical teams to assist after Hurricane Maria are on the ground in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Learn more>


In addition to other contributions, Montefiore donated generators, chain saws to clear away fallen trees, work gloves, shovels, picks and brooms for essential clean up, lanterns, batteries, hospital linens and many other items.

Inagural Montefiore-Einstein Presidential Lecture

Joseph Sparano, MD, vice chair of medical oncology at Montefiore and associate director of clinical research at Albert Einstein Cancer Center, and John Condeelis, PhD, professor and chair of anatomy and structural biology at Einstein were the honored speakers on June 8 at the inaugural Einstein-Montefiore Presidential Lecture.

The event was hosted by Steven M. Safyer, MD, president and chief executive officer of Montefiore Medicine, and Allen M. Spiegel, MD, Einstein's Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean.

Expanded Access to Clinical Trials for Minorities: Making Personalized Medicine a Reality.

Joseph A. Sparano, MD, Director, Breast Medical Oncology, Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care is well known for his pioneering research using molecular and genetic profiling for diagnosing and treating breast cancer, lymphoma and HIV-associated cancers. But he is especially proud of his efforts to enroll greater numbers of minorities in cancer clinical trials.
